A solo projected developed in Unreal Engine. The game’s main idea is a third-person shooter with destructible environments and a gun that explodes when throw, affecting the surroundings.
Infernal Sin was my first large-scale project. It marked my first role as a Programming Lead. I learned to manage a large team, assign tasks, implement new features, and ensure easy contribution. As part of the INFINITY27 skills bootcamp. I was tasked with designing and implementing a spell into Samsara. I implemented my spell into the game using Blueprints and then C++. I delivered a presentation giving an overview of my spell, the design intents behind the spell, how the spell works, the implementation details, an overview of the performance and areas for improvement and future enhancements.

About me
Hi! I am Louis Hobbs, a games programmer with experience in Unreal Engine and Unity.
I began my game development career in 2014 and studied Computer Games Programming at the University of Derby, graduating with a 2:1 in 2020.
Initially, I worked as a software developer creating VR software with Unity as part of the University of Derby’s outreach research team and as a Computer Lab Assistant. In 2024, I participated in the INFINITY27 Skills Bootcamp, developing a spell for the game Samsara using Unreal Engine 5. Later that year, I joined the University of Staffordshire’s Games Institute as a Part-Time Games Tech Lecturer.
Currently, I am seeking professional work opportunities to transition into a career in the game development industry.
Alongside my professional work, I have continued to expand my capabilities through personal projects. In 2023, I began developing a Discord application in JavaScript to track games for a competition with friends. In 2025, I organized and hosted the thirteenth edition of the osu! online esports tournament United Kingdom Community Cup 13.
I have been into games since childhood and it remains my greatest hobby. Even after all this time, I am continually inspired by the innovative work from games new and old. Outside of gaming, I have regularly attended LAN events for nearly a decade, primarily within the UK but occasionally abroad. I’m a big fan of Formula 1. I find it fascinating how teams constantly innovate to push the boundaries of performance. I support the Williams F1 Team but I’m always happy to witness lively competition between all teams.
